ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Moria Drake.

I’m an early-career researcher and media profressional working and studying at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). Over the last few years I’ve dedicated myself to growing my understanding of Queer, Camp, and Feminist theories in order to set myself for Higher Degree Research at the university.

My current focus is my Master of Research (MRES) in which I’m investigating queer coding in science fiction over the years, utilising the utopic dream presented in the entire Star Trek franchise.

There are a few more things to know about me;

  • I’m an avid reader of Fantasy and Science fiction, my Goodreads is an excellent representation of my proclivities (through 2022 I started and finished all 14 books of Wheel of Time — 4,410,036 words)
  • Across board, tabletop, and video games, I spend a great deal of my time in weird and wonderful escapism.
  • I am a proud, queer, transgender woman working and living in the heart of Queensland’s bible belt.

Given my research is focused around the queer subtext, coding, and baiting…

  • The Garden Begins

    This post marks the change in my digital garden — or perhaps maybe an addition — and a noticable change in my method of blogging.
